This is probably my favorite song on the new album. I know, I shouldn't say things like that - it's like saying you have a favorite child or something! Jason says he loves them all equally, for different reasons. Me, I pick favorites.

Palm Springs International Shortfest

I Want To Rock made an appearance at the SXSW film festival this March in the film, Girls Named Pinky. Well, the film has been selected to appear at the Palm Springs International Film Festival this June. So once again our wee song is off to sunnier pastures. Congratulations again to our friend Alex and his amazing film!

Boy, we've had some kooky weather out here!

Gorgeous, summer-like weekend, then thunderstorms on Sunday night, wet with big wind gusts yesterday that even knocked down power and a bunch of trees!
You really can't predict what the weather will be like here in Oregon. I'm amazed that my wee little veggies are doing so well after all the craziness.

So on that note - we're streaming the album version of "Upside Down" on our website. It just seems appropriate!
We previewed an earlier version of it when we were still working it up. The album version has a few more bells and whistles. We hope you like it.

We've also added a couple more of the new tracks to the Comforters' player (home page). I'll add some more of the new tracks to the player each week as we get ready to release this puppy!

We're playing up in Salem this coming Friday, April 9th for the Cherry City Music Festival. The Comforters are playing at Browns Town Lounge at 10pm.

We've been starting to look at booking for this summer. Looking to play the a bunch of shows on the west coast and perhaps head out beyond. Would love to come to your town if you have a comfy couch or two!

Spring Fever

It has been ridiculously beautiful here in western Oregon. 60-70 degrees, flowers in bloom, young green on the trees. Walrus and I have seen the wild turkeys and baby deer daily on our little hikes. It has been heavenly.

For me.

Poor J has been sick as a dog. Stuck inside, in bed with a fever and a wicked cough.

Spring fever indeed.

Soup, tea and sleep is the remedy. I can't wait to get him back out there with all this beauty.

In honor of the new season and J, I posted an updated mix of Upside Down on our Music Player.

News! News! - album update and SXSW!

Hi friends,
It has been a while...but I'm happy to report that we've wrapped up all tracking for the new album! I'll be sharing some of the new tracks as they come back from the mixer in these next weeks. The first track is The Fall of Fall, which you can download in our extras section, or at ilike.com. We've had a busy couple of years - one of us went back to graduate school and started a new career. But we have time once again for the music and we're thrilled!

The new album, Two Piece Orchestra. is set for a June release, but you will be able to pre-order the album tthis May (more details coming soon).

You may have read on our home page that I Want To Rock is heading to the SXSW film festival this March. It is featured in the film, Girls Named Pinky, which will be making its world premiere at the festival. The film will be shown March 13th, 15th and 17th at the Alamo Lamar 1 Theater in Downtown Austin, TX. For those of you heading down to Austin for the festival, be sure to go see the film!

We are once again playing the Morrissey Tribute night. This year it will be held at the Downtown Lounge in Eugene. The show is set for May 22nd. We go on at 10pm.

We've played some shows and had some drums tracked out in Nashville since the last post. We've written some new songs, but mainly we've worked a whole lot on keeping a roof over our heads.

You know how it goes...

The music is coming. Just takes a bit longer to get recorded in these leaner times.

what's going on, Comforters?

Hi friends,

Sorry that we have been so quiet these last few months - J is working on his Masters degree and that has meant almost no time to record. (Apparently they expect him to write papers and study - sheeesh!)

But don't worry - we are still making music - we just have to schedule things a bit differently.

We have a little break coming up in August and we plan to record a LOT! So for those of you who have been patiently waiting for the next download - it is coming.

The new album will be pushed back a bit - but it is just a matter of getting some time in at the studio with Jason. The songs are all there, waiting their turns. We really can't wait to share them all with you.

Hope everyone has been having a wonderful summer.

Last night was splendid. Testface played an awesome set and Whiskey Priest closed out the night with his sweet and melodic songs. The folks at Sam Bond's Garage were terrific. A good bunch of the fine folks of Eugene came out for a mid-week show and they were a great group. We had a blast playing and it was a really warm and receptive environment.

Jason played a fantastic set, if I do say so myself. I love what he comes up with on the electric and he is just so rock solid that I feel so secure up there. I'm a lucky gal.

Happy belated birthday to my kid brother Brian!

Friday night's show at The Indigo District was a blast.

A big thank you to Leona Laurie for having us play. Ehren played an awesome set of new songs from his upcoming full length album. His song, "Earthquakes" was stuck in my head long after we got home.

Everyone who worked the Indigo District was super nice too.

It really was "such a nice day outside," and inside too : )

Happy Day - for me and my favorite comfy song

Okay, so now and then I will swing by the Comforters' music page at the iTunes store - just to see what's up.

And over the last year I have watched "Lazy Sundays" and "I Want To Rock" wrestle eachother each week for the top spot on most downloaded song (for us). And it is not just with iTunes but with the other online stores. All of the fancy info I get back from the "powers that be" seem to confirm this trend.

But this morning, low and behold, "Young Republicans" was in the top spot and I was so thrilled.

What's going on?

Must have something to do with the political season and all.

Don't know why I have such a soft spot for that tune - I had very little to do with that one. Jason wrote it. But I've always liked that song best and now it seems (at least for this morning) other folks do too.
